About Kate
Hello and welcome.
I’m Kate, and I’m a yoga teacher and sound bath facilitator based in South West Cornwall.
I first started practicing yoga in 2006, and what began as a personal love of yoga has since grown into a lifelong path of practice, study and teaching.
I have been teaching yoga for over ten years and I have taught weekly yoga classes at the Tate Gallery St Ives and the Carbis Bay Hotel for the past nine years. I host monthly yoga and sound bath events and I also teach yoga as part of the Bay Wellness Restorative Retreats and Coastal Wellbeing Retreats at the Carbis Bay Hotel, as well as the Reset Retreat at Pod St Ives.
My style of teaching is calm, positive and inclusive, guiding students through their yoga practice with awareness of body and breath. My classes focus on supporting overall health and wellbeing, while nurturing a deeper sense of connection and inner harmony. I offer opportunities to reflect on the teachings of yoga philosophy, while inviting curiosity, exploration and moments of play to help students deepen and enjoy their practice.
Yoga should be accessible to every body, age and ability. Through my years as a school teacher, I gained valuable experience in teaching, supporting and adapting to meet the individual needs of the class while making learning engaging and enjoyable. I bring this understanding into my yoga teaching and I offer adaptations and the use of props such a blocks, belts and bolsters so that each practice is supportive, accessible and feels right. All abilities are very welcome to my classes, including beginners and those who are new to yoga.
I love sharing and continuing to learn about the practice of yoga with all who come to my classes and I feel grateful to teach in such beautiful venues and locations in Cornwall.

About the Yoga Classes
The styles of yoga that I teach are Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga. The classes are held at the yoga studio overlooking the ocean in the Carbis Bay hotel and the Tate Gallery St Ives. During the Spring and Summer months, I also teach yoga on Carbis Bay beach.
Styles of yoga
Weekly Yoga Classes - Hatha Flow
The weekly morning and evening yoga classes are Hatha Flow, a blend of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga.
In Hatha yoga, poses are often held for longer, developing strength, flexibility and balance. Vinyasa yoga is a flowing style of yoga that links movement with the breath. I adapt each practice to suit the needs and abilities of the class. Gentle breathing practices (pranayama) and breath awareness are also woven into each class.
Evening Events - Yin Yoga
I teach Yin yoga as part of the evening candlelit yoga and soundbath meditation events. Yin yoga is a slow, relaxing and meditative practice where poses are supported and held for longer. This style of yoga gently focuses on the deeper connective tissues of the body, releasing tension and encouraging inner calm.
Sunrise Beach Yoga
During the Spring and Summer months, weekends begin with Friday morning sunrise beach yoga classes on Carbis Bay Beach. The classes are open to all abilities and beginners are very welcome.
Beach yoga classes are held on the St Ives end of the beach (the left hand side when facing the sea), we meet on the sand and people are asked to bring their own mat or a towel to practice on.
Beachside parking is available.
