Yoga Classes

Kate teaches Hatha yoga classes through a flowing sequence of poses at the yoga studio overlooking the sea in the Carbis Bay hotel, the Tate Gallery St Ives, and on the beach during the Spring and Summer months.

All abilities are welcome to her classes, including beginners and those who are new to yoga. She offers adaptations and the use of props such a blocks, belts and bolsters so that each practice is supportive and accessible for every body.

Kate has a calm, positive and inclusive teaching style. She guides students through their yoga with awareness of the body and breath, inviting curiosity and moments of play to help them explore their practice. Her classes focus on supporting overall health and wellbeing, while nurturing a deeper sense of balance and connection.

About Kate

Kate first began practicing yoga in 2006, and what started as a personal love of yoga has since grown into a lifelong path of practice, study and teaching. After two years of teacher training at the Bath Iyengar Yoga Centre with Richard and Kirsten Ward, she qualified as an Introductory Level 2 Iyengar yoga teacher in 2016. She continued her teacher training at home in Cornwall with Judith Van Dop, qualifying as a Junior Intermediate Level 1 Iyengar yoga teacher in 2019.

Kate has always had a love of learning, and continues to expand her knowledge and experience, both as a practitioner and as a teacher, through regular ongoing study and training. She has completed additional training in Yin Yoga and Teen yoga and is currently completing a further 300 hours of advanced yoga teacher training at The Shala Yoga Centre in London.

Kate has been teaching weekly yoga classes in both the Tate Gallery St Ives and the Carbis Bay Hotel for the past eight years. She also teaches yoga as part of the Carbis Bay Hotel’s coastal wellbeing retreats and the Reset Retreat at Pod St Ives .

Kate made the transition into yoga teaching from being a primary school teacher. She loves sharing and learning about the practice of yoga with all who come to her classes and feels grateful to teach in such beautiful venues and locations in Cornwall.

Yoga and Sound Bath Meditation

A deeply relaxing experience of slow flowing yoga and a guided sound bath meditation, held twice a month in the yoga studio overlooking the ocean at the Carbis Bay Hotel.

Kate guides you through a gentle yoga sequence and breathing practice, designed to help your body and mind unwind, preparing you to receive the restorative benefits of the sound bath.

This is followed by a deeply relaxing sound bath meditation, during which you are immersed in the soothing sounds and healing vibrations of Himalayan and crystal bowls, gongs, shamanic drums, chimes, rattles, sansula, rainstick and koshi bells. Sound baths help to restore balance to the mind and body, clear energetic blockages, and invite a sense of deeper connection, renewal and inner harmony.

The yoga classes are held in the stunning, purpose built yoga studio overlooking the ocean in the Carbis Bay Hotel in Cornwall. Parking is available at the hotel.
